Luxury Real Estate Without Borders – Chicago

Toronto Penthouse Living’s Alex J. Wilson recently had the opportunity to sit down with Helene Cohen of Berkshire Hathaway, the founder of Chicago Condo Finder, to chat about Chicago’s luxury condo market.

Chicago’s luxury market tends towards larger units, at 2000 square feet and above, with most high end units coming online at an average of $1250/square foot.  Buyers tend to be empty-nesters who had large homes in the suburbs who want to find a home in the city for all that Chicago offers.  Many have other homes in other locations and don’t want the bother of maintaining a large space.  Other buyers are people relocating to Chicago, as a large number of Fortune 500 companies have head offices in Chicago.

The heart of the luxury condo market in Chicago is in the Gold Coast, with its amenity-rich buildings and large units, with common and private amenity areas that truly extend each resident’s home, from wine cellars to private dining rooms, health clubs, spas, golf simulators and even a Himalayan Salt Room.  Concierge staff are on hand, from butlers to mixologists to personal shoppers.
